I just wanted to share some photos of my “location crush,” Palm Canyon, located here in San Diego at Balboa Park. It’s one of the many trails that run through the park, but this one in particular just so happens to be my favorite visually. I’ve been obsessed with this location since I first laid eyes on it almost a decade ago. I have this thing for palm trees, and Palm Canyon just so happens to have over 50 different species of them!!! It could be a Californian thing. It could be because I’m an earth sign (♑️). Who knows, but the obsession is REAL.
Honestly, I love coming here because it makes me feel like I’m on some Caribbean island when I’m only miles away from home. It’s also a relatively short trail, suitable for a quick walk. I’ve used this location for many of my school assignments (example below of a composite I did a while back & don’t come for my $10.99 T-Rex model). Other than school work, I could use it for a variety of shoots. I have so many ideas jotted down when it comes to this location, so maybe I’ll bring them to life sometime soon. Even when I’m not shooting here, I love to walk this trail when I need a nature/palm tree fix.
I shot the photos below a few weeks ago. It had been a while since I had the opportunity to shoot something for myself and not for work. Here are just a few things that stood out to me on this particular day.
Don’t be surprised if this becomes a series…
