San Diego Pride just so happens to take place this weekend, so what better time to share these photos than now?
I was hired as a creative director for Black SD Magazine in May and have kept busy just being my creative self ever since! I’m able to flex my graphic design muscle and provide photography here and there. We just released our very first Pride Issue that I helped design front to back! I can honestly say that it feels good getting paid just to be ME. I manifested this, but as far as being a part of a production highlighting 40 of San Diego’s finest drag queens… I did not see that coming, so when I got the chance, I hopped on it!
This shoot was done in support of Sisters of St. James Productions, collaborating with San Diego Pride, Black SD Magazine, and Alias Pro Studio. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA community, I was more than happy to support and be a part of such a talented team!!! 🏳️🌈 I missed being in the studio and even hearing the satisfying sound of strobe lights 🤤. I also enjoyed editing these photos as much as I did shooting them. My goal was to bring out everyone’s personalities, show off their costumes, and make the colors pop.
I don’t think any shoot after this will come as close to matching the energy behind these photos. This song, “Unspeakable Joy” by Kim English, played non-stop throughout the production weekend, so if you want the same effect while looking through these photos, play that song on loop…
Here are just a few of my favorite photos and a link to witness San Diego Drag Excellence.
